Well....OH MY GOD they sound incredible. Much more fabric than my polk db's (which I admit...are both a price and quality difference). The amount of clearity and detail are amazing. I went for a different set-up than what I had. I ditched the co-axe fronts with a 3/4 DB tweet in favor of the MKII 220 6" mid -bass driver with a 1.5" mid-tweeter (crossed at 3khz). I went with this set-up mostly to upgrade sound quality and staging up front. But I was most surprised at how well the tweeter really produces 3k-4.5khz mid range freq. In the Z bringing the sound up off the floor is VERY difficult as you may know. These tweets reproduced transient low-end vocals and mid freq like no other I have ever heard. AWESOME staging....and I went FOR NOW with the run of the mill flush mount above the vent. I was very scrupulas as to the exact placement in order to acheive a near perfect soundstage. Im making some nice custom A pillar mounts in the meantime....and since I have a "show" set of door panels....I thought Id see what this location could provide. I was shocked. The mid-bass really sounds tight. While listening to some Jazz the toms of the drum kit leaped off the floor....awesome stuff. Popped in some stevie ray vaughn and the separation of these babies really stood out. The polks never quite got there in this area. Now the car sounds 5ft wider....nice. The amount of sound is amazing....and to think im only hitting them with 150 Watts RMS (they will take 300 rms) and no clipping. Im impressed. Great pair of speakers for the Z.
